SUBJECT: Project No. 2064 - Monument Corridor Pedestrian Infrastructure Improvements
Notice of Public Meeting

Dear Concord Resident:

You are invited to attend an informational meeting for the Monument Corridor Pedestrian Infrastructure
Improvements Project. At this meeting, City staff and the design consultant will present the preliminary plans,
discuss construction, schedule, and potential project impacts, and will answer your questions and receive your
comments for consideration during design and construction. The meeting will be held at Cambridge
Elementary School Multi-Use Room, 1135 Lacey Lane, Concord, CA 94520 on Tuesday, November 18,
2008 at 7:00 p.m.

The purpose of the project is to enhance safety for pedestrians and bicyclists traveling along Monument
Boulevard and Meadow Lane. This project mainly consists of constructing sidewalks on:
  • Monument Boulevard (between Carey Drive and Meadow Lane/Oak Grove Road)
  • Meadow Lane (between Monument Boulevard and Johnson Drive)

The project also includes installation of:

  • Street and pedestrian-level lights on Monument Boulevard between Victory Ln. and Lacey Ln.
  • Bicycle lanes and sidewalk on Meadow Lane between Johnson Drive and Monument Boulevard
  • A traffic signal at Robin Lane/Meadow Lane
  • Curb ramps, "countdown" traffic signal heads, and other improvements to improve the accessibility
    for the disabled

The project is funded mainly with two, federal Transportation for Livable Communities grants ($2,200,000).
The schedule calls for construction in summer/fall 2009.
Please contact me at (925) 671-3031 if you have any questions or if you are unable to attend to the meeting
and would like to express your comments or concerns.

Sincerely,

Dan Sequeira, PE
